Here's a student's version of The Reason by Hoobastank. Jotted down in my brain ever since I came back to school, the song stuck in my head cos Devi and Harjeet kept playing it over and over...
The Reason
I'm not a perfect person
6 subjects, all that takes to bring me down
But I continue learning
I hope my brain can make it safe and sound
And so I have to learn before I go...
A thousand things that I must know
I can't find the reason
For me
To change relative velocity
And pulp it to dust and grime and slack
And alkanes are really crap...
"Draw me the structure of ethanol"
Ferng came to class demanding that we do
And I was stuck there thinking
Lucky Jasmine shitting in the loo
And so I lave to learn before I go
A thousand things that I must know
I can't find the reason
For me
To skip sums and leave out summary
For compre and vectors are nuts
They can just kiss my butt
I can't find the reason
For me
To leave Leggatt right in the sea
And map-reading brings me nowhere
To sum it up Life's not fair...
I'm still on hiatus, don't get me wrong. The empty feeling from the Chinese O Level results have worn off a bit. Now, since we're in the midst of the Olympics, I've got a quote:
People don't seem to realise how often you have to come in second in order to finish first. I've never met a winner who hadn't learned how to be a loser. -Jack Nicklaus.
Yup, for those people who're retaking the exam. And for Li Jia Wei, who got a bronze for Singapore! She was so close to getting that silver, but whoever that woman was from North Korea clinched it. I was SO pissed when I watched them play. Firstly, whenever that NK woman won a game, she would give a horribly screechy victory cry which just sends my skin crawling. I was in the toilet when I first heard that sound and I was like, hmm...chicken on discovery channel. Must be. Who would've guessed.
Anyways, that better not mean something aweful in Korean.
Hmm...since I'm here might as well give you a recount of this weird dream I had.
I was only taking a nap, but I guess I'm a heavy sleeper.... see, the whole class of 4B2 was invited to this CASTLE in the middle of S'pore for a party which I assume must be a sec 4 farewell. At night, very beautiful place. I can still remember it. It was a sort of Victorian palace which went straight UP like a HDB, only that it seemed to go on forever.
We played a game there, very weird one. We had to split up and search the castle for the owners of the castle, and as everyone dispersed like fireworks everywhere, we decided to take the lift. Like, duh.
Me, Jasmine, and Ju Hiang (I think, cos she never really said anything) used this lift, which was *outside* the building and made plainly with glass and metal. We pressed 12 floor for some reason and ascended. Me and Jas were talking crap all the way until I felt kinda stuffy. Stuffy, in a dream?? Yeah, I thought I was sweating or something. The lift never reached 12. Once it did it just kept going back to 7th floor and up, 7th floor and up. It went on forever.
I used to have dreams about going inside a lift but never coming out to the floor I wanted. I think it still means something and I'm sure I'll find it out one day. Anyhow, in the end the lift door opened, because I willed it to.
We stepped out onto the BALCONY of the 12th floor and opened the stained glass window. There in the chamber sat four people dressed in Victorian clothing and seated in the way the S'pore Idol judges sat. Freaky. As in, all in a row at one long table. The woman turned behind and said in the exact words 'How did you people come up here?'
That was that. The weird part was when I took the same lift to go home.
It was all a blur but I ended up outside the kitchen balcony of my flat and stepped in. My parents were bringing dinner out. They told me 'dinner's ready' and didn't care that I just entered through the sky or something. Freak out.
So fine, I went out and there was this...this extra GUY at the table. Since he didn't look that bad and everything I didn't really care. Yeah. I was getting a drink in the kitchen...and here's the dialogue I remember SO well:
Dad: Oh! I forgot something!
Me: ...Red wine?
Dad: Yeah.
Me: *goes out to the table and hears something about $1000* Huh? What $1000?
Mum: Oh, you know, long ago your daddy was almost assassined.
Me: *heart stopped*
Mum: Now the price is raised by $1000.
Me: One thousand dollars?
Unknown guy: *brings dishes into the kitchen...when did dinner end??* One thousand dollars is a lot of money, you know.
I went back to the kitchen, and I assumed that guy went to the balcony area to erm...wash laundry? My dad was there, seated sloppily, sipping red wine. Weird.
Me: Daddy is it true that someone tried to assassinate you before?
Dad: Yeah. I was drinking red wine when I passed out. (???)
Me: Someone shot you?
Dad: Yeah.
Me: So you were sent to the hospital?
Dad: Yeah.
W-E-I-R-D.
Okay, show's over. My mum woke me up for the REAL dinner. Freakish.
Got back Chinese O Level results today, and I can't feel any more disappointed in myself. I don't have to retake, and I don't want to, but...like, ever since I knew my grade, my heart was bleeding. It bleeds so bad the pain is numb now.
So I've decided to go on Hiatus (a break) from blogging, and more or less anything to do with the computer unless I really need to. See ya after the Prelims!!
The neighbour's banging their door so hard they'll break it one day. Irritating.
Yes yes, sec 4 farewell over, no? I thought I'd be perfectly bored and I honestly expected some disagreements, but everything really went smoothly. It was so perfect, the most fun thing this year so far as I remember. It really didn't matter that we got told off for wrecking the track or wasting foodstuff 'cos people in Bangladash are starving and we should be counted as lucky'....I SO enjoyed myself.
Hahaa...it was so nicely put together anyway. Excellent BBQ food, gross but exhilerating games, whatever, everything was good! The erm, 'cheap' production of a performance was so darn cute! I dunno where the hell they had TIME for that. Hahahaz...the games were the coolest. Right before the games I was preparing to die vomitting, but I was laughing too hard I had no time to think of anything else.
Oh man, the egg and flour game at the track spooked me senseless. It was horrible. We were to run a race carrying a bucket with an egg on a spoon. Goodness, we thought it would be slow and steady but when the other team started to run, Huiwen's eyes grew a size bigger and she started sprinting towards a horrified me. I was stumbling, like, going 'oh shit oh shit I cannot do this it will drop!' Lucky it didn't. I don't wanna end up cleaning the track.
Okies, so we lost anyway, and the lovely prize for the losing team was a smear of egg + flour on the face/neck. ARRGHHH!!!!!!!! I stank of raw eggs all day. Sobz.... I'll never look at an egg the same way again.
Hah! I thought THAT was bad, we later had to head for the 4th floor toilet to face the nightmare of mayonaise (spelling?). I thought it could have been vomit. Seeing Shiyun dripping with the vile, thick liquid after her turn, I went 'shit shit shit' all the way. Got myself a free, natural facial that day.
As we were heading for the canteen for Fear Factor, we were directed to the well area for the scolding. Ok, so that was that.
Aw man, wanted to spook the sec 3s at night, but due to the fact that there might be some weak hearts out there, we cut it. Sigh, the plan was for us to fake (quite obviously) that we were having multiple erm, nightmares and dreams of sorts. Too bad, cos I wanted to sing that Jigglypuff song. Haha.... I sang that to vanessa's FACE that night, but she was out cold! My gosh. I didn't know anyone could sleep that soundly.
Hmm....about fifteen minutes into the night, I woke up with an aching back and a bruised arm. Fine, so I woke up several times that night cos of the hard floor. It was like, sleeping in a post world war building, with people running around the hall at night seeking entertainment.
All in all, it was great. Like, when on earth do you get to wake up at 6am, play Bridge at 7, and snap photos for an hour before breakfast? Um...very SPASTIC photos.
Check out the spastic song on Jas's blog. Me too tired to type it out.
